Betonica Officinalis // Betony

Betony is such a robust plant- it really isn’t fussy. Grow in sun or shade, survives in acidic and alkaline soils, can handle a good amount of tread or grazing! Plus its pretty purple-red flowers with a little ‘landing’ lip are great for all the beneficial insects that come for its nectar.

Harriet's Tip: This perennial will do well with a cut back in late August or into Autumn to encourage new growth, maintain a neat appearance, and prevent potential issues like leggy or floppy foliage.

  • Size // 20cm
  • Pot size // 10cm Coir
  • Grown in Cornwall, UK using peat-free compost and chemical-free, biological plant care.
  • Soil // quite a robust plant- don’t let it get too moist though
  • Position // full sun or full shade
