When I realised that most 'normal' kitchen sponges were made out of synthetic materials (yes plastic) and contained chemicals I was horrified and knew I needed to find something else, stat! I didn't want little bits microplastics in the water system whenever I did my washing or needed to clean my sponge.

These multi-purpose cleaning cloths from Eco Living are handmade in the UK and are the perfect eco friendly cloths that have so many uses you will love them in your home!

These multiple purpose cloths are the perfect, washable, reusable, zero waste option to replace typical kitchen roll, wipes, baby wipes or even flannels.

SPONGE CLOTH FEATURES

  • Compostable sponge cleaning cloths, 100% plastic-free and made of natural renewable resources.
  • Made with 70% cellulose (the cellulose comes from FSC certified forest) and 30% cotton.
  • Water-based inks.
  • 100% natural sponge cloths.
  • Certified according to Oeko-Tex standard 100.
  • The cloths do not emit micro-plastic pollution, unlike classic sponge cloths.
  • These sponge cloths are very absorbent, durable and reusable.
  • Home compostable after use.
  • 100% plastic-free and vegan
  • Size:172 × 200 mm

Please note: to minimise our impact on the planet, we do not pre-wash material therefore it is normal to expect up to 10% shrinkage upon laundering the first time. To minimise shrinkage and be environmentally friendly, we suggest washing cool and hanging to dry. We also do not recommend the use of fabric conditioner as it will affect absorbency.

WHAT TO USE THEM FOR

  • Wet the sponge cloth then squeeze it and use for cleaning kitchens, bathrooms and all around the house.
  • Rinse the cloth after use.
  • Wash: Dishwasher safe or washing machine. The cloths can be washed at 30-60c, line dry. Reuse over and over again, then home compostable after use.

    WHY MAKE THE CHANGE?

Did you know that a lot of cleaning sponges and cloths contain plastic (I know right, wtf!) so whilst you're scrubbing away, little parts of your chosen cleaner are breaking off and going into the water system.

That means microplastics are potentially going to end up in the ocean, just from you doing some washing up! As soon as I discovered this I switched to a plastic free sponge right away but unfortunately, the one I bought came wrapped in plastic (ahhh!).

I'm so happy that I can now offer solutions from amazing brands that send things to me plastic free that are reusable, sustainable and made to last!

    Great :+1::skin-tone-2:

Great addition to the cleaning supplies in my flat. Different colours mean I can allocate them to different things (dishes, surfaces, bathroom etc).

A great item to find on Plastic freedom.

    Love that they're compostable

Great cloth/ sponge hybrid. Last ages, we wash them too. Once they're past it they become a floor cloth before eventually being composted. They don't leave lots of water on the surface like some cloths do and they dry super quick which is helpful.
